At 30 June 2016:
  • Males made up the majority of federal prisoners, ranging from 87% in Queensland to 94% in the Northern Territory.
  • The majority of federal parolees were also male, ranging from 63% in Western Australia to 88% in New South Wales.
  • The median age for federal prisoners ranged from 30 years in Tasmania to 42 years in the Northern Territory, whereas for federal parolees the median age ranged from 41 years in Tasmania to 49 years in Queensland. (Table 35)
  • The proportion of overseas born federal prisoners ranged from 37% in South Australia to 61% in Western Australia. (Table 36)
